VAT and equivalence surcharge
Last updated
What you need
To know which VAT type applies to each of your products. DiroTPV does not give tax advice: if in doubt, ask your accountant.
1. Pick the VAT on each product
When you add a product you pick its VAT type from a list the platform maintains. There are no types to configure and no rates to type by hand.
2. Tick the surcharge on the customer
The equivalence surcharge (recargo de equivalencia) is a checkbox on the customer record, on the Customers screen. When it is on, every line of a sale to that customer adds the surcharge that matches its VAT:
- 21 % VAT: 5.2 % surcharge.
- 10 % VAT: 1.4 % surcharge.
- 4 % VAT: 0.5 % surcharge.
A sale without a customer never carries a surcharge.
3. How the total is calculated
For each line, DiroTPV takes the price times the quantity, adds the VAT and, when it applies, the surcharge. It adds up all the lines and rounds the total to two decimals.
4. Changes never touch the past
Each line stores the VAT and surcharge rates in force on the day of the sale. If a rate changes later, sales and invoices already made stay the same.
